I want life to take me away on a journey. There are so many things I have always wanted to do and barriers to overcome. When expanding into unfamiliar territory, I want to draw the curtains closed and hide. Then I have to remind myself that I can handle anything with one step at a time. I wish I could shake myself by the shoulders and say suck it up and get on with it. I eventually do, but man is it a battle to work out my kinks.
We are preparing for an ultra run that will cover the 350 miles circumference of Bali, Indonesia. It was a dream of mine about 2 years ago, but life got busy and I put it on the shelf. During a morning run Sara mentioned the idea of the run and then the wheels began turning. This time I will not back down. I will go for it full on. The pieces began coming together. We left the house at 5am for an early morning photoshoot for the Bali Island Run.
I wanted to cancel the run at the sheer fear of what we were about to embark on together. Valentine Lily the event partner who is an Indonesian ultra runner tells me, ‘if you want to do it you can, but you have to decide if you can finish. If you think you can finish you will. You have to feel it, if you never tried it how will you know’? She makes me think that even I can accomplish such a challenge. We will camp on the beach and trek by day and night. It will be the most scary yet exciting thing I will have ever done in my entire life. Pretty fab way to ring in my 32 birthday ;).
