Growing up my mother was always busy building her business. She was late to collect me from soccer practice and didn’t have much time away from the office. I always thought that I would push so hard pre-family so that I can be available for my kids (if I am blessed to have them). Since I have been back in the US there is one person who has stood by me in the most challenging moments. She was there when I needed help preparing for all of my events, dropping me off and picking me up from the train station and just being an ear to listen.
My mom has always been hard on us in many ways, pushing us to be better work harder, never settle for ordinary. She follows me around the house asking if I have eaten and forcing me to drink more water. That is because I will always be her little daughter. During one of my nervous breakdowns I saw her pacing in fear and not knowing what to do, it was hurting her to see me suffer. We cannot go back and rewrite the past, but we can live in the present.
While in middle school there was a dress contest for geography and I wanted to be Cleopatra. My mom and I went out the night before to the shop and bought a special gold fabric. All night mom sewed on her machine until the sun rose. I went downstairs that morning and there it was the most beautiful costume I had ever seen. That day I won 1st prize and felt like the most beautiful girl in the world. My little mommy she is a hyper bunny and I love her just the way she is for her kindness and love, but also her stubborn will. Thank you mom for being there.
