It is easy to focus on what we are lacking, but today I began to see how loved I am. Like my older sister finding the time to do my make-up for today’s photoshoot, which left her only 2 hours of sleep before her night shift at the hospital. Then we have my dad and step-mom who regularly drive 2 hours to collect me from the train station to spend the weekend in PA.
These thoughtful gestures are a reminder that my glass is overflowing with abundance. I know that we are all far from perfect but I am certain that I have a fantastic family. Making these relationships work at times can be trying but for sure they are worth it. That is how I see love. Love is caring enough to be there and fight to overcome the frustrations.
Counting ‘the bad’ only brings more, but embracing and acknowledging kindness brings strength. We sacrifice our time, money and energy for those we love but nothing can ever compare to its worth. It is the one investment that never loses value. The next time I am down I will look for the sun dipping between clouds of grey. There is always something to love.
