Where does a dream begin? The sad truth is that it usually begins at rock bottom. It is when we reach a place of being frustrated enough with our circumstances to make dramatic changes like: quitting a job, leaving a relationship and going for the thing we really want. I hope that those are not the steps that you will have to take. The key is to get you to a state of mind of enjoying life again. A great place to start is in that hobby you have been meaning to begin.
Why is this important? It may not be that you will become a professional photographer because you have taken up a photography class. But what does happen is that you begin to be open to new opportunities and experiences. There is a hopeful yet nervous excitement that fills those spaces where despair once resided. You will meet new people and in the process begin to discover a part of yourself that had been left under-stimulated for far too many years.
I have said it before and I will say it again, the pursuit of the dream is not as important as the person you become. This nagging feeling that something has to change is good. It is the true self trying to break-free. Transformation is painful, but completely necessary. Go out be brave! Dive into your life and see what you may find. You are not a hamster on a wheel. Only you know when you are ripe enough to fully commit to bringing a renaissance to your life.
